What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an “attunement” given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve one’s health and enhance the quality of life.

Its use is not dependent on one’s intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.

During a meditation several years after developing Reiki, Dr. Usui decided to add the Reiki Ideals to the practice of Reiki. The Ideals came in part from the five prinicples of the Meiji emperor of Japan whom Dr. Usui admired. The Ideals were developed to add spiritual balance to Usui Reiki. Their purpose is to help people realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to improve oneself is a necessary part of the Reiki healing experience. In order for the Reiki healing energies to have lasting results, the client must accept responsibility for her or his healing and take an active part in it. Therefore, the Usui system of Reiki is more than the use of the Reiki energy. It must also include an active commitment to improve oneself in order for it to be a complete system. The ideals are both guidelines for living a gracious life and virtues worthy of practice for their inherent value.

Kundalini Reiki

While not specifically stated in the explanation above, there are a vast number of types, methods and modalities for Reiki. The most basic Reiki is, as explained above, Usui Reiki. However, there are a constantly growing number of different types of Reiki as originated by some of our most enlightened teachers. One of those types is what we might call the simplest to practice, Kundalini Reiki. So what, you may ask, is Kundalini?

Kundalini means that certain healing channels and chakras have been opened, and you have thereby gained access to the Earth’s energy which is a part of the universal energy. The Root chakra, which is the energy center located near the coccyx, acts as an entrance for the Kundalini energy.

The Kundalini energy is also referred to as “the Kundalini Fire.” After attunement, the energy runs all the way up through the body, through the main energy channel, and out of the Crown chakra. This energy channel goes from the Root chakra to the Crown chakra on the top of the head. An open Kundalini means that over a period of time, a complete cleansing of the chakras, the body parts and the energy channels is obtained.

Kundalini Reiki is sometimes known as the “intend and send” Reiki because the sending of this energy is just that simple. Often individuals that wish to be able to send Reiki but do not have the time or funds for some of the more expensive attunements will gravitate towards Kundalini Reiki as it is arguably as strong as the base Usui Reiki.

Tachyon Source Attunement – $10
The Tachyon Source attunement converts objects, oils or water into a Tachyon Source, which makes all it comes into contact with into a Tachyon antenna filled with life force energy. This is useful for boosting the energy in a room, for increasing one’s strength in channeling energy healing, and for just giving oneself the benefit of the increased life force. It is useful for charging a number of stones as Tachyon antennas by placing one Tachyon Source stone into a box with them. In one attunement, a person can both attune objects and liquids as Tachyon Source antennas and attune others. Prerequisite is the Tachyon energy attunement (listed above).

Intuition Reiki – $10
Intuition Reiki provides support and assistance in developing intuition. It helps to clear the energy around the third eye and remove biases and fears that make it difficult to hear spiritual information. Everyone is intuitive. It is a natural gift we all possess. Some people, however, are more naturally gifted psychically than others, just like some people are more naturally talented at sports or a musical instrument. Even if you are not naturally gifted psychically, you can improve your intuition with practice and by clearing your energy. Just doing regular Reiki consistently can improve intuition, and many Reiki practitioners report becoming more psychic after being attuned. Intuition Reiki provides specific energies and exercises for enhancing intuition, beyond what regular Reiki accomplishes.

Guardian Angel Reiki Attunement – $10
This attunement connects you with your own Guardian Angel who will be with you always, assisting with healing and providing guidance when asked. The more you seek contact with your guardian angel, the more you will feel your angel’s presence.

Etheric Cord Flush Attunement – $10
Etheric cords are energetic attachments we have to other people as well as animals and inanimate objects. Those who are clairvoyant and claim to be able to see cords often describe them as thin energetic filaments that actually attach from one individual to another or from individual to object. Healthy cords attach at the heart chakra; negative cords will attach elsewhere, often in the solar plexus, stomach, lower back, or even the spleen. Negative cords come in many different forms. For example, if someone is an energetic vampire, they will unconsciously attach an etheric cord to you and use it to drain your energy. Two people who are addicted to each other will have very entrenched etheric cords attached.
